Defense Industrial Capability and Technology Assessments

BIS conducts industry analyses to assess capabilities of the U.S. industrial base to support the national defense. The Strategic Analysis Division uses industry-specific surveys to provide essential employment, financial, production, R&D, and other data - information unavailable from any other source. The final reports provide findings and recommendations for government policy-makers and industry leaders.

These studies are conducted in cooperation with experts from the private sector and other U.S. government agencies. The goal is to enable the private sector and government agencies to monitor trends, benchmark industry performance, and raise awareness of diminishing manufacturing capabilities. Customers for these reports include the Armed Services, Congress, and industry associations.
