In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IKEA Home Furnishings of Plymouth Meeting, Penn. is voluntarily recalling 7,279 Fargglad multi-color children’s chairs. There is a choking hazard from red plastic feet that can detach from chair legs.
bullet CPSC, Sky High International Announce Recall of Care Bears Lunch Kits Sold at Kohl’s Department Stores
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sky High International LLC, of New York, N.Y. is voluntarily recalling about 13,000 Care Bears Lunch Kits with Water Bottles. The pull-up drinking spout can detach from the bottle, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet CPSC, Little Giant Pump Co. Announce Recall of Cooler Pumps
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Little Giant Pump Company, Oklahoma City, OK is voluntarily recalling about 150,000 Evaporative Cooler Pumps. The motor caps on the cooler pumps are not made with flame- retardant material and an internal electrical failure can ignite the cap, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet CPSC, LaCrosse Footwear, Inc. Announce Recall of Work Boots
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), LaCrosse Footwear Inc., of Portland, Ore. is voluntarily recalling about 8,400 Polar and Trailblazer Work Boots. The protective toe cap on the boots may not provide sufficient impact and compression protection. This could result in crushing, bruising, or other injury to the wearer’s foot.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Giant Bicycle Inc., of Newbury Park, Calif. is voluntarily recalling about 160 Rainier Mountain Bicycles. The front brake mounting tabs can break, causing the brakes to fail and the rider to lose control of the bicycle.
bullet Battat Inc. to Pay Penalty for Failing to Report Hazard with Children’s Toy
A toy manufacturer has agreed to pay a civil penalty to settle allegations that it did not give the government a timely report of a safety hazard involving a children’s toy. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing that Battat Inc., of Plattsburgh, N.Y., will pay $125,000 to settle allegations that it violated federal reporting requirements associated with its Bee Bop Band Drum Set.
bullet CPSC, Chicago Wholesale & Imports Inc. Announce Recall of Electric Pictures
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Chicago Wholesale & Imports, of Bridgeview, Ill. is voluntarily recalling about 3,500 electric pictures (moveable waterfall pictures). These pictures have inadequate construction, incorrect wiring, and use flammable materials, all of which pose fire and electric shock hazards to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Teng Fei Trading Inc., of Flushing, N.Y. is voluntarily recalling about 81,000 Teng Fei Energy Saving Light Bulbs. The base of the bulb is not flame-retardant, as required in the voluntary standard for this type of bulb. Electrical components in the bulb can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dell Inc., of Round Rock, Texas is voluntarily recalling about 990,000 AC adapters used with notebook personal computers. The adapters can overheat, posing a risk of fire and electrical shock hazards to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Runtal North America, Inc., Ward Hill, Mass. is voluntarily recalling Runtal Sundance Towel Radiators. The towel rack may overheat and rupture when overloaded with towels, releasing heated fluid which could result in a burn injury.
bullet Court Dismisses Lawsuit Against CPSC
A federal judge in Philadelphia today dismissed a lawsuit filed against the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission by the family of a teenager who was shot with an airgun. Senior Judge Robert F. Kelly ruled that Jerome and Rebecca Mahoney lacked standing to challenge a November 2003 settlement with the Daisy Manufacturing Co. regarding the company’s Powerline BB guns. The Judge held that the CPSC’s action in settling the administrative lawsuit was unreviewable under the Administrative Procedure Act.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Inc. and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), Quebec, Canada are voluntarily recalling the following snowmobiles: Ski-Doo® 2003 Grand Touring 800 SDI SE; Legend 800 SDI SE Ski-Doo® 2004 Legend 600 HO SDI SE, SE GT, Sport and Sport GT; Legend 800 HO SDI SE and SE GT; MX Z X, Adrenaline and Renegade X; GSX Limited, Limited 1+1, Sport and Sport 1+1 Ski-Doo® 2005 MX Z Renegade. The throttle lever could become stuck leading to loss of speed control and possible collision.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Inc., Quebec, Canada is voluntarily recalling Ski-Doo® 2004 MX Z (E) 800 HO and GSX LTD (E) 800 HO snowmobiles. The starter ring gear may crack, causing fragmentation and debris, which may act as a projectile at high speeds. A projectile could cause serious injury or death.
