U. S. EPA Life Cycle Assessment Website

EPA has a working group that is promoting Industrial Ecology, and the related topic of Life Cycle Assessment. EPA's efforts include activities in materials analysis guidance, products, geographic areas, programs and policy, research, and teamwork/education/outreach.

"The National Research council has released an important new report entitled "Materials Count: The Case for Material Flows Analysis"; a project cosponsored by EPA, USGS, DOE, and NSF. Materials flow analysis track movement and transformation of materials from extraction through production, use, and disposal. This type of analysis is an important tool is effective life cycle assessment.
