Working with NASS includes extensive training programs and new job assignments
at regular intervals to help improve statistical and data processing skills
and knowledge about commodities or production patterns in various areas of
the country. New techniques, particularly those related to emerging technologies,
are important segments of training and everyday performance on the job.
Positions may be filled in any of the 45 State Statistical Offices and in
Washington, D.C. Most positions require an agreement to periodically relocate
to other NASS offices.
Qualified applicants will be considered for appointment without regard to race,
color, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, religion,
membership or non-membership in an employee organization. These same equal
opportunity principles apply to career advancement following appointment.
There are excellent opportunities for advancement under a merit promotion
program where each employee's ability is evaluated against knowledge and
skills needed in jobs to be filled.
