Moonset over the Royal Society Range. This photo was taken from the deck of the Chalet at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, on 2 October 2001, at 10:30 AM. The sun was just rising and the moon was setting over the Transantarctic Mountains. By late October the sun does not set again until late February.
