  Regional Director, Middle East/North Africa/South Asia

GS-15

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is recruiting a Regional Director for the newly created Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region. 

    The Regional Director:

  • Develops and implements the annual strategic operating plan for the region.

  • Manages a program fund of roughly $10 million annually.

  • Directs a staff of country managers.

  • Travels extensively throughout the Region. 

  • Represents the agency to high-level officials of foreign countries, the U.S. government, Congress, U.S. business, and the media.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the field of foreign economic development, preferably involving both infrastructure and trade-related activities.

  • Familiarity with the political, economic and business conditions in the Middle East.

  • Ability to identify regional developmental opportunities that also promote U.S. commercial, trade, and foreign policy interests.

  • Ability to negotiate the terms and conditions of international grants. 

  • Ability to represent the agency before diverse and high level constituencies.

  • Knowledge of the Arabic language preferred but not required.
