Caspian: Transforming Health Care
TDA held its annual Caspian event in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from June 5-7. This year, in keeping with our efforts to promote sectors ancillary to the oil and gas business in the region, TDA's focus was on health care. Through this symposium, U.S. health care companies had an opportunity to make inroads in this region at an early stage in the reform process.
At the Tashkent symposium, over forty project sponsors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turk-menistan, and Uzbekistan presented investment opportunities in their health care sectors. Over the next several years, as the countries of the region continue their reform efforts and begin to realize revenues from development of their economies and vast natural resources, investments in the health sector will increase dramatically. The more than 30 U.S. health sector companies that attended this symposium benefited from meeting with officials from the health sectors in each of the seven countries represented, contacts that will prove to be increasingly valuable over time.
The symposium Briefing Book is available in CD ROM format from TDA's library while supplies last. Please e-mail the TDA Library at info@tda.gov or send a fax to (703) 875-4009 for additional information.
