TDA AWARDS GRANT TO VIETNAM STATE TREASURY

HANOI, VIETNAM - (September 24, 2002) Earlier today, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA) awarded a $494,500 grant to the Vietnam State Treasury (VST) for technical assistance on the development of an information technology (IT) development plan. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi's Counselor of U.S. Commercial Affairs, Michael Frisby, signed the grant agreement on behalf of the U.S. Government and TDA. Mr. Dang Van Thanh, General Director, signed on behalf of VST.
The TDA-funded study will analyze VST's current IT procedures and processes, both at its headquarters and major regional offices, and recommend a new IT architecture for VST's core systems to support its business development plans. The study will serve as a 5-year procurement plan and will provide an implementation schedule for the replacement or consolidation of VST's core systems.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency promotes American private sector participation in developing and middle-income countries, with special emphasis on economic sectors that represent significant U.S. export potential. By funding various forms of technical assistance, training grants, feasibility studies, conferences, orientation visits, and business workshops, TDA helps American businesses compete for infrastructure projects in emerging markets. In addition, the agency promotes capacity building initiatives and supports U.S. Government trade, economic policy and development objectives around the world.
