N.H. Governor to Host Brazilian Environmental Officials
For Immediate Release
Washington, D.C. New Hampshire environmental companies will have an opportunity on
Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20 to meet with twenty Brazilian environmental project
sponsors thanks to cooperative efforts of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, The New
Hampshire International Trade Resource Center, and Massport. Included in their visit will be a
reception in Nashua with New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen.
"The development of the environmental infrastructure market in Brazil presents an
opportunity to dramatically increase exports of water, wastewater, sewage, vehicle emission,
solid waste, landfill, and other environmental sub-sectors," says TDA Director J. Joseph
Grandmaison. "Now is the time to further develop business in this expanding market."
Information on the program at Massport is available from Ms. Margot DeNoie in Boston at 617-
478-4100.
Brazil has the largest potential environmental market in Latin America. A recent survey
showed that 42 percent of Brazilian industrial companies intend to make investments in pollution
control equipment to meet ISO 1400 norms. New regulations in Brazil are also driving
investments in solid and hazardous waste, and public sector entities at both the state and
municipal levels are investing heavily in water and waste water projects.
Following site visits on Friday, June 20, the Brazilians will be guests at a reception with
Governor Jeanne Shaheen in Nashua. The reception is being coordinated by the New Hampshire
International Trade Resource Center (603-334-6074).
