The Technical Reference Model (TRM) (download PDF) is an integral component of an Information Technology Enterprise Architecture and is required by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as part of a Federal IT Architecture (OMB M-97-16). The purpose of the TRM is to provide a conceptual framework or context to define a common technical vocabulary so that the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) can better coordinate acquisition, development, and support of RRB's information systems.

The Business Reference Model (BRM) (download PDF) is an integral component of the Business Architecture and is required by the Office of management and Budget (OMB).  The purpose of the BRM is to provide an organized, hierarchical construction for describing the day-to-day business operations of the Federal government.  While many models exist for describing organizations - org charts, location maps, etc. - this model presents the business using a functionally driven approach. 

The Service Component Reference Model (SRM) (download PDF) is a fundamental component of an Information Technology Enterprise Architecutre and is requried by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as part of a Federal IT Architecture. The purpose of the SRM is to provide a business and performance-driven functional framework which classifies the Railroad Retirment Board's (RRB) service components with respect tohow they support the RRB's "business" and/or performance objectives.
