About the Council The Wildland Fire Leadership Council (WFLC) was established in April 2002 by a Memorandum of Understanding between the Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior. The purpose of the council is to support the implementation and coordination of the National Fire Plan and the Federal Wildland Fire Management Policy.
Mission The Council is a cooperative interagency organization dedicated to achieving consistent implementation of the goals, actions, and policies in the National Fire Plan and the Federal Wildland Fire Management Policy. The Council provides leadership and oversight to ensure policy coordination, accountability, and effective implementation of the National Fire Plan and the Federal Wildland Fire Management Policy.
Accomplishments Since its inception in 2002, the WFLC has been highly successful through their collaborative work at reducing the interdepartmental differences for a seamless delivery of a coordinated fire protection program.
