About the Institute

History Overview

The Institute for Federal Printing and Electronic Publishing was developed to enhance the printing and publishing professions within the Federal Government. The primary way this is accomplished is through seminars about printing and electronic publishing policies, procedures, processes, and terminology. The first class was conducted in September of 1989, and the schedule has grown since that time.

The Institute's faculty is drawn from the U.S. Government Printing Office and other Federal agencies that have the expertise needed. Occasionally a contractor is used to fill a particular need. Classes include presentations, demonstrations, case studies, discussions, visual aids, course materials, and hands-on exercises using computers.
