 Welcome to the FAP's Commander's Guide
Welcome to the Commander’s Guide to the Family Advocacy Program and Juvenile Delinquency. The overall goal of this site is to provide commanders and senior non-commissioned officers with general information about FAP and its role in responding to family violence, the coordinated response to family violence in the military, the DoD response to child sexual abuse in DoD-sponsored out of home care, and juvenile delinquency issues. This site has 5 modules which can be reviewed individually or as a whole.

Specific Learning Objectives
Ideally, after reviewing the information on this site, commanders and senior NCOs will be able to:
  • Explain the mission and goals of FAP.
  • Understand the role of installation commander and leaders of programs that support military families in preventing and addressing family violence and juvenile delinquency.
  • State the relevant individual, unit, and community risk factors.
  • Understand domestic abuse, family violence, child sexual abuse, and youth violence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources, both on and off of the installation, to address family violence and juvenile delinquency.
  • Explain what a FACAT is, its availability, purpose, and use.
  • Describe some models for prevention and intervention.
  • Develop a plan/needs assessment to address problems before they arise.
