Army National Guard - Physical Training

A soldier’s level of physical fitness has a direct impact on combat readiness. The many battles in which American troops have fought underscore the important role physical fitness plays on the battlefield. Research on the effects of regular participation in a sound physical fitness program and maintenance of a healthy weight concludes that such programs enhance a person’s quality of life, improve productivity, and bring about positive physical and mental changes. Not only are physically fit soldiers essential to the Army, they are also more likely to have enjoyable, productive lives. Fitness includes not only the old Army view of "PT" which was primarily calesthentics, but also maintaining the body at a healthy weight through exercise and diet, maintaining flexibility of the joints, and many other aspects of "health". We hope these tools will help.
