NDBC Real-Time Data

NDBC moored buoy, C-MAN, and drifting buoy data are available in real-time through selecting either:

• NDBC Station locator map: a series of regional, image maps showing general locations.
• NDBC Station ID List and Search: the fastest approach if you know the station identifier.

Real-time data is available for at least the last 72 hours in tabular form (better for use with spreadsheets, graphics programs etc.), which can also be obtained from the NDBC real-time data directory. The standard meteorological files have .txt extensions, the detailed wave summaries have .spec extensions, and the drifting buoy files have .drift extensions.

Also available on these pages are historical data and climatic summaries.

Alternate sources of NDBC real-time data

• The Great Lakes Forecasting System (GLFS) WWW page makes the latest NDBC data from the Great Lakes available along with a variety of other data sources from the area.
