Checking for Unclaimed Assets

If we're holding money for you, we want you to have it! So . . .

If you hold Treasury bills, notes, or bonds in an account with us, please take a moment to be sure we have your correct mailing address. Sometimes we can't pay people simply because our information on them is outdated. You can check or change your address right here on the web.

If we owe you money but your address is wrong, and if the incorrect address is the only thing preventing us from paying you, we will release your funds when you supply the appropriate information.

If we already have your correct address, you can find out whether we're holding funds for you by writing your customer contact center and providing the following information:

  1. Your account number
  2. The Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number for your account
  3. Your name
  4. Your phone number
NOTE: We don't have the capability to conduct a search by an owner's name only.

Here's one more important fact to realize: Nearly 98 percent of outstanding marketable debt is held in the commercial book-entry system rather than in accounts with us. Treasury doesn't maintain ownership records of Treasury securities held in the commercial book-entry system; therefore, we cannot assist in searches related to those funds.
