A Guide to the NIPAs
Important
Notice
This description of the national income and product accounts (NIPAs)
was prepared for the publication National Income and Product Accounts
of the United States, 1929-97 that reflects the comprehensive revision
of the NIPAs released in 1999 and the annual revision released in July
2000. The NIPA estimates available on this Web site reflect the comprehensive
revision that was released beginning in December 2003 and incorporate
the definitional, statistical, and presentational improvements introduced
at that time. For more information about the comprehensive revision, go
