The Social Security Administration can issue you a password for your personal account. With a password, you can review or change your information either online or on the automated telephone service.

How to get a password:

Establishing a password involves 3 steps.

Step 1 To create a permanent password, you need a Password Request Code (PRC) Apply for a temporary Password Request Code (PRC).
Step 2 Wait at least 15 days for your PRC letter to come in the mail.
Step 3 Create your permanent password using the directions in your PRC letter. I have my PRC letter.

If you want to block online and automated telephone access to your personal information, you can block password access.
