Commissioner Apfel Announces Initiatives to Improve National 800 Number Service
SSA Commissioner Apfel announced a number of short-term initiatives to improve the 800 number telephone service to the public. A new report detailing the national 800 number performance to date and strategies to improve service was released today.

1998

Management of the SSI Program
On October 9, 1998, Commissioner Kenneth S. Apfel announced the release of a comprehensive report on SSA's management of the Supplemental Security Income program.

1997 Privacy & Customer Service In the Electronic Age -- The challenge for SSA is to provide convenient public access to services. Increasingly, Internet technology will enable us to meet this challenge but at the same time the agency must maintain privacy of personal information in agency records.
