INTRODUCTION

The mission of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Diversity Council as elaborated in its charter is "to act as an advisory body to the Director, NIEHS through active participation in this Office of Equal Employment Opportunity support council. The primary concerns of the Council will be promoting a strong diversified workforce and recommending solutions for enhanced workplace productivity in support of quality science."

The membership of the Council is representative of NIEHS by grade, gender, race, and organization. While the council has the normal structure of bylaws, officers, committees, meetings, and reports, its primary initiative is to produce monthly programs that celebrate the diversity of the NIEHS workforce.
