Powell Reiterates U.S. Wants to Lift U.N. Iraq Sanctions
May 15: Secretary of State comments en route to Germany from Bulgaria
En route to Berlin from Sofia May 15, Secretary of State Colin Powell reiterated that the United States wants the United Nations Security Council to lift sanctions against Iraq.
Following is the State Department transcript of his remarks
May 15, 2003
SECRETARY POWELL: We are going for the lifting of sanctions. We want to get fifteen to zero like we did with Resolution 1441. I think the lift is achievable.
