OTIR's mission is to speed the progress of cancer research by encouraging development of new technologies and promoting scientific collaborations between NCI and the private sector.

Located in the Office of the Director, OTIR serves as a convenient access point for private industry and technology developers into NCI. In addition, OTIR plays a key role in the management of several programs for NCI, including:

Visitors can learn about OTIR's role in NCI, specific initiatives and staff by clicking on the appropriate left navigation links. And, by clicking on the top navigation links, visitors can connect to NCI's Industrial Relations and Technology web sites, which are hosted by OTIR.

The Industrial Relations site aims to educate companies about the breadth of opportunity for collaboration with NCI and how to access NCI scientists, funding, infrastructure and resources.

The Technology site is designed to inform technology developers about relevant NCI initiatives, funding mechanisms, and current opportunities, and how to access complementary programs, resources and scientists in both the public and private sectors.

Visitors to all three sites - About OTIR, Technology and Industrial Relations - will find summary information that has been distilled and integrated from many other web sites internal and external to NCI, as well as dozens of links to related programs and resources. More detailed information about a topic can be found by clicking on the links embedded throughout the text.

First time visitors may wish to visit the NCI Overview, Scientific Priorities, and Funding Tutorial to learn about NCI, its mission and goals, and how to obtain financial support. For general information on cancer, please visit CancerNet, NCI's source for the most current and accurate information about cancer.
