Description

THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 03 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR 20K CRYOGENIC COOLING SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued.

The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions and a confirmation received at the site visit on May 20, 2004.

Question: Is there a facility plan drawing for the new refrigerator location?

Answer: See drawing posted with this amendment (03).

Question: What is the (door) roll-up door size and of the 10K room and outside door?

Answer: Both doors are 25ft. wide and min. 35 feet tall.

Confirmation: Floor shroud section has to be able to move independently from the table and from the last shroud section. Must be offloaded afterwards to shroud and 1” rail system. The floor shroud can roll in and out with the optics bench but would be required to be offloaded once in position. If the 2” rail system is used for the floor carrier, it must be offloaded to either the 1” rails or some other feature to reduce vibration in the 2 inch rail system. The optics will be mounted to the 2” rail system and Helium flow thru the shroud floor could cause a problem.

Question: Access Route- Handling equipment available-smallest door/opening we must go through to get to chamber?

Answer: The door is 25 feet wide and 35 feet tall

Question: What is the location of the Shroud Re-assembly and cleaning prep????

Answer:The shoud re-assembly shall be performed under the canopy on the East side of the 10K clean room. A welder plug is available and this area is covered. We will have the area pressure washed before arrival of your hardware.

Question: Point of receipt at loading dock-what handling equipment available?

Answer: A 20 Ton sissor lift unloading dock is available. The dimensions are 10 W x 20 L. We have a 3600lb. forklift for this operation and a forklift in the 10K clean room. Once in the 1000k clean room the 20 ton overhead bridge crane will be available.

Question: Why is the shroud flat on top?

Answer: Our shroud requirements did not specify the shroud would be flat at the top. Our concept picture shows the shroud flat to provide a mounting surface to the I-beam in the top of the chamber. This concept is only for demonstration of the concept and by no means dictates the final design. If the panels are round instead of square the flat surface is not required. We have to access lifting points on the top of our existing shroud which makes a flat top required for access to the lifting fixture. The new shroud requirement will not have lifting eyes at the top of the shroud.

Question: Who cleaned your existing shrouds after deliver?

Answer: A local contractor named Micro Craft provided PSI cleaning services. Another company onsite “ASRI” also provides these services.

Question: Is the helium tank provided?

Answer: No, the tank should be provided as part of the refrigerator system. MSFC will provide the Helium to fill the tank. Question: Can the existing helium tank feed both refrigerators?

Answer: This is a question for the refrigerator vendor but I assume a new tank will be necessary.

The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.
