NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Qty: 1 EA Gear-Bearing ConformLoc Gripper that will enable robots to softly conform their gripper shape to any object being grasped.
NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Honeybee Robotics, LTD., New York, NY. NASA/GSFC has patented gear-bearing technology that is licensed to private industries to build prototypes and Honyebee is one of those authorized licensed companies. Honeybee Robotics is the only vendor who can provide a Gear-Bearing ConformLoc Gripper in a short period of time to meet critical mission schedules.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
The procurement will be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition procedures, and the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, but quotes timely received by the response date will be considered.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 30, 2004. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.

All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
