This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.
This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) set forth in FAR Part 13.
This notice is being issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for one New Focus tunable laser source, model number TLB-6328-P, or equivalent.
Background:
The NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) has requirements for a New Focus, model number TLB-6328-P, tunable laser source or equivalent. The tunable laser source will be used to measure the responsivity as a function of bias voltage of semiconductor photodetectors over the wavelength range of 1520 to 1570 nanometers. In addition, the instrument will be used to carryout swept wavelength measurements to determine the relative responsivity spectra as a function of wavelength. Furthermore, by modulating the laser current by an external RF signal, the AC response of the photodetector will be measured from which the usable 3 dB bandwidth will be determined. From the above set of measurements, we will obtain the optimum photodetector material/geometry that is essential for constructing an efficient high-speed chip-to-chip optoelectronic interconnect for which we are tasked.

Delivery:

Delivery to Glenn Research Center is required within 4 weeks ARO. Delivery shall be FOB Destination.

Selection and award will be made to the lowest priced, technically acceptable offeror, with acceptable past performance. Technical acceptability will be determined by review of information submitted by the offeror which must provide a description in sufficient detail to show that the product offered meets the Government's requirement.
