It's here and it's a SNAP!!!
BIS's SNAP is now available at no cost to the exporting community.
With SNAP you can:
- Submit export and re-export applications, and commodity classification
requests via the Internet in a secure environment.
- Receive same day acknowledgment of your submission.
- Obtain online validations (e.g. electronic facsimile of export license)
from BIS.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Internet access and a web browser with 128-bit encryption (required to
perform secure transactions). Most browsers use 40-bit encryption; however,
128-bit browsers provide significantly greater security and encryption features.
- Applicant Identification Number (ID) and Personal Identification Number
(PIN):
If you have not submitted to BIS electronically in the past, you will need
to obtain a "PIN Request" package.
Detailed procedures for obtaining and using a PIN are set forth in Section
748.7 of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Original signatures
on the certification are required as stated in the EAR. This certification
cannot be faxed or emailed to BIS.
If you have submitted electronically to BIS in the past and already have
an Applicant ID and PIN, you must update your account information by faxing
your name, phone number, and complete company name and address to BIS (Attn:
Lenora Baylor). BIS's Fax numbers are 202-482-1733, 202-219-9179 or 202-219-9182.
You will not automatically have access to SNAP without first updating your
account.
