I can work with your company or agency to address accessibility of E⁢ as mandated by Section 508 with training and consultation.
In the early 80's I began my work in this area with an IBM Research project called PCSAID which was one of the very first screen readers. IBM Special Need Systems (now the IBM Accessibility Center) was formed to make PCSAID a product and it became IBM Screen Reader. Later I led the development of IBM Screen Reader/2, the first screen reader for the GUI on a PC.
I led the IBM effort to create accessibility guidelines for software, hardware and the web. Then I was vice chair of the Advisory Committee empanelled by the Access Board to draft the 508 standards.
I wrote the 508 Web Accessibility course for ITTATC which is available on their site http://www.ittatc.org/training/webcourse/ and on mine, http://jimthatcher.com.
There is no person or company in this industry that has more experience and expertise than I have. I can provide training, product and site accessibility evaluations, consultation and advice regarding Section 508 compliance, WCAG Guideline support and usability. |
