Cass Ballenger (U.S. House of Representatives, R-NC)

Cass Ballenger represents the 10th district, among the most rural in the country. Mr. Ballenger began his career in public service in 1966 as a member of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and continued his work in the North Carolina House of Representatives and Senate from 1974-86. First elected to Congress in 1986, he is in his sixth term, serving on the International Relations Committee and the Education & Workforce Committee, the Arts Endowment's authorization committee, where he is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Mr. Ballenger received his B.A. in History from Amherst College.
