DON ADAMS has been involved in cultural development work since 1971, beginning in his native South Dakota and moving on to Illinois, Louisiana, Washington, DC, and California. NANCY ANGELO, PH.D. is an organizational psychologist who has worked extensively with arts organizations. Formerly a video and performance artist, Dr. Angelo's work is distributed by the Video Data Bank of the Chicago Art Institute. CRAIG DREESZEN is an educator, consultant, and writer who works nationally in arts organizational development and planning, community arts and education planning, program evaluation, and community cultural planning. He is author of Community Cultural Planning: A handbook for community leaders, Intersections: Community Arts and Education Collaborations, and The Artist in Business. He co-edited Fundamentals of Local Arts Management and wrote three chapters in that book. He directs the Arts Extension Service (AES), University of Massachusetts Amherst. There he leads a national team of staff and associates in teaching and consulting, research and publishing on behalf of artists, arts organizations and communities. He earned his PH.D. in regional planning and his M.ED. in organizational development at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

MIRANDA DUNCAN received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, her law degree from San Francisco Law School, and her master's degree in sociology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She practiced law in California before becoming the director of the Dispute Resolution Program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1987. Now part of the Public Policy Research Centers at the University, Ms. Duncan facilitates cooperative processes designed to address various public issues: community development, historic preservation, radioactive waste siting, land use site-specific disputes, government regulations, transportation planning, resource management, and community visioning and goal setting. She also has experience mediating work place disputes, victim/offender restitution, and group conflicts. Her understanding of conflict resolution has been enriched since 1989 through an ongoing academic and professional exchange arrangement with community mediators in South Africa. Ms. Duncan teaches both academic and non-credit courses in conflict resolution at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and supervises a mediation clinic at Saint Louis University School of Law. RICHARD EVANS entered the field of non-profit organization development in 1991 and is project director for the Orchestra Forum. Evans has conducted numerous extensive data investigations, including the trend analysis of the purpose, design and distribution of state-wide arts and culture support (for the James Irvine Foundation, San Francisco, CA) and national studies of organizational profiles within the fields of ballet/dance, theaters and orchestras (for Dance/USA, Theater Communications Group and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation). He has conducted major field studies in the arts; these include the first national study of community schools of the arts for the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund, and an evaluation for the Fellows Program of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation of fellowships and support structures for individual artists. ANNE FOCKE is a writer, editor, and freelance arts consultant. BARBARA KIBBE is an experienced management consultant. JOE MATUZAK is Director of Arts Wire, a program of the New York Foundation for the Arts, and computer consultant specializing in nonprofit concerns. From 1996 to 1999 he was also a part-time faculty member in the Master of Arts Administration Program of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, teaching technology management. He has directed a multidisciplinary artist cooperative organization, Buckham Gallery in Flint, Michigan; and also serves on the boards of the National Association of Artists' Organizations, the Progressive Technology Project, among others. He managed a computer software store for five years; co founded and co-directed the Genesee Literary Center and organized community-based literary activities for more than a decade. He was also systems operator of an early independent computer bulletin board service called "Skateboard" for five years; organized and moderated programs with poets on poetry for public access television; and was a writer and art reviewer for The Flint Journal for four years. He is a writer whose poetry, fiction, and essays have been published in many magazines and anthologies, has received various awards for his writing including Hopwood Awards from the University of Michigan and a Creative Artist Award from the Michigan Council for the Arts.
