    In 1998, Hurricane Mitch finally dissipated. It was a category five, and was the strongest October Atlantic Hurricane on record. It produced an amazing 75 inches of rain, which caused catastrophic flooding in Honduras and Nicaragua. An estimated 11,000 people died, which was the worst since 1780.
