As we progress through the 21st century, our Senior Executives face tremendous leadership challenges. The Department of the Navy (DON) needs to ensure that the way we DEVELOP our Senior Executive cadre produces executives who are equipped to meet the current and unforeseen challenges.
The Department of the Navy's future will depend on our cadre of Senior Executives to continually improve their executive leadership abilities to meet the ever-changing demands of its internal and external customers. The Senior Executive Service (SES) was designed to produce a flexible and mobile cadre of leaders who embrace change and seek opportunities to contribute beyond their field of expertise.
The DON executive of the future must produce results by broadening his/her perspectives, working across agency lines, motivating others and forming partnerships. This requires lifelong learning and development.
The Executive Personnel and Leadership Development Division is committed to helping newly appointed, as well as current members of the DON senior executive service, to attain their professional goals through a continuum of lifelong learning and development.
