Passes for Entry to Federal Lands

Golden Access Passports are issued to blind and/or permanently disabled persons. This lifetime pass admits the passport signee and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle into most federal lands that charge an entrance fee. The Golden Access Passport also provides a 50% discount on federal use fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, parking, boat launching, etc. It does not cover special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.

Issuing a Golden Access Passport:
  1. A Golden Access Passport MUST be obtained IN PERSON by producing proof of disability or eligibility to receive federal benefits due to permanent disability from a Federal agency such as Social Security Administration, Office of Workman's Compensation, Veterans Administration, etc.
  2. The Golden Access Passport Register must be filled out completely.
Golden Age Passports

Golden Age Passports are issued to persons 62 years of age or older for an administrative fee of $10.00. This lifetime permit is for citizens of the United State or persons domiciled (permanently residing) in the United States who show proof of age. It admits the passport signee and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle entrance into most federal areas that charge an entrance fee. The Golden Age Passport also provides a 50% discount on federal use fees charged for facilities and services such as camping swimming, parking, boat launching, etc. It does not cover or reduce special recreation permits fees or fees charged by concessioners.

NOTE: Domiciled is defined as " The permanent residence of a person or the place to which he intends to return even though he may actually reside elsewhere. A person may have more than one residence but only one domicile." Foreign citizens not meeting the permanent residency requirement are not entitled to the passport.

Issuing a Golden Age Passport:
  1. A Golden Age Passport MUST be obtained IN PERSON by showing proof of age.
  2. The Golden Age Passport Register must be filled out completely.
Golden Eagle Passports

The Golden Eagle Passport is a yearly pass that people may purchase that admits the passport signee and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle to most federal lands that charge an entrance fee. The Golden Eagle Passport does NOT cover or reduce federal use fees such as camping, swimming, parking, boat launching, or cave tours. It is valid for entrance fees only. The Golden Eagle Passport is good for a 12-month period starting with the date of purchase and ending the last day of the purchase month one year later. It permits unlimited entries to all federal entrance fee areas. This pass is not replaceable, refundable, or transferable. Golden Eagle Passports may be purchased as a gift but it must be validated by the signature of the holder. The cost is $65.00.

Issuing Golden Eagle Passports:

1. Requests for Golden Eagle Passports may be made in person or by mail. If the request is by mail, please make sure that the payment is by check or money order.
2. Completely fill out the Golden Eagle Passport Register

Please note: passes are not available by phone or over the Internet. The Golden Age and Golden Access Passports must be obtained in person at the refuge or other federal land available for public use.

There are currently no discounts for military personnel.
