President George W. Bush Joins in Celebrating Arts and Humanities Month

THE WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON

September 23, 2004

I send greetings to those celebrating National Arts and Humanities Month in October.

The rich history of our country and the creativity of the human spirit are reflected in the arts. Across our Nation, the arts and humanities help people explore ideas, express emotions, and better appreciate cultures from around the world. They also remind us of the unique fabric that makes up our society.

During National Arts and Humanities Month, we highlight the importance of creative activities and encourage our citizens to participate in community arts and humanities programs. By attending a performance or lecture, visiting a cultural festival, or participating in a workshop, we can enjoy the arts and help celebrate America's artistic heritage.

Laura joins me in sending our best wishes.
