Background Information
In 1998 the United States Congress passed the Workforce Investment
Act, which replaced the Job Training Partnership Act. The new law
mandates every state to have a One-Stop Center System as of July 1,
2000. A One-Stop Center has updated technology, information, and services
all under one roof and is accessible to eligible displaced employees.
