This digital, collaborative reference service is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and allows libraries and information centers to expand reference services with shared resources and subject specialists around the world. Questions submitted by patrons via this Web-based digital reference service may be referred to the Global Network or to the consortium of DoD libraries for a response. Those in need of Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC®) services should register with us. DTIC is the central facility for the collection and dissemination of scientific and technical information for the Department of Defense (DoD) and primarily serves registered users. DTIC users with specific queries for DTIC Reference Services should contact ref@dtic.mil or call (703) 767-8274 or 1-800-225-3842.

You are eligible to register as a DTIC user if you:

  • are an employee of a DoD organization, DoD contractor or potential DoD contractor
  • are an employee of a U.S. Federal Government agency or U.S. Federal Government contractor
  • researcher of a university or college funded by DoD or a U.S. Federal Government agency for research throughout the U.S.
