Becoming a FirstGov Affiliate or modifying a FirstGov Affiliate Search
FirstGov is currently re-architecting the search engine to better fit the needs of our citizens and affiliates by upgrading hardware and software to the most current version.
We will soon have a new search index online at FirstGov.gov. Until that time, we are unable to accept new affiliate partners for the registry. The updated index will be available in three to four weeks upon completion of the upgrade.
In the interim, should you have interest in FirstGov Search, please email your request or questions to searchupgrade.FirstGov@gsa.gov and we will contact you when the new services are available.
Thanks for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the FirstGov Search Engine.
About the FirstGov Search Engine
The Office of Citizen Services and Communications at the General Services Administration, through FirstGov.gov, provides world-class search engine technology to nearly 600 federal websites, including the Departments of Commerce, State and Energy. FirstGov offers this "Affiliate Program" to all federal agencies and e-government initiatives. Sharing this capability with other agencies greatly reduces information technology costs and implementation time across the federal government. Benefits of the Affiliate Program include:
-
The most comprehensive search of government web pages anywhere on the Internet. In a quarter of a second, the FirstGov search engine searches more than 10 million federal web pages;
-
Flexibility to designate the scope of your search capabilities to include either federal or state government web pages or both, only the contents of your agency or department's website, or a specified group of websites;
-
Query results that are customized to your "look and feel." Results will be returned with your agency's header and footer displayed on the page; and
-
Step-by-step implementation guidance and support services.
Security Standards
FirstGov search is provided under a current Authority to Operate (ATO). Federal agency websites and information systems that utilize these services are required to maintain a current ATO based on NIST security guidelines and standards.
