  • View Flash Version - Approximate length: 35 seconds

  • Text Version - NIDA Mission movie

The movie begins by displaying the NIDA logo.

The first screen includes the following text: "More has been learned about the brain in the past twenty years than in all recorded history." An illustration of a healthy brain is at the bottom of the screen.

The second screen includes the following text: "One thing that has been learned is that DRUG USE changes the brain." The brain illustration changes to demonstrate symbolically the effects drug use has on brain activity.

The third screen includes the text: "NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction." Illustrations follow that demonstrate many of the ways NIDA studies drugs and the brain. They depict NIDA employees using computers, modern medical technology, and chemistry equipment in their research.

The NIDA logo appears in the final screen, which ends the movie.
