The GIS Integration and Development ProgramProviding relevant, easily accessible spatial data, tools, and support services to the coastal resource management community. The GIS I&D program develops products and services through project partnerships that address specific technical needs and capacities of the coastal management community. The program continually explores partnership opportunities that demonstrate new and innovative coastal applications of geospatial technology. In addition, this program provides core Web and programming support to programs across the Center. GIS I&D projects typically focus on data access and distribution, Internet mapping, and spatial data analysis and visualization as a means of addressing coastal hazards, smart growth, marine protected areas, or coastal permitting issues. Some examples of these efforts include an online service used to access hurricane information, classes to help users get the most out of their technology, and tools that help communities assess their risk and vulnerability to coastal hazards.
