The focus areas of the GIS Integration and Development Program are:
- Data, Metadata, and Standards
to encourage incorporation of high-quality, well documented data as a core activity of the coastal management community.
- Data Uses and Applications
in projects that use spatial data and GIS software to address a variety of coastal issues.
- On-line Mapping and Software Tools
that offer interactive access to mapped data on the Internet and downloadable software products to increase users' technical capacity for addressing coastal issues.
- Training and Outreach
activities that include hands-on technical courses in GIS and metadata, issue-specific workshops, and program-sponsored manuals, books, and conference proceedings on coastal issues.
