"Know Your Records" Lecture Series

The National Archives is pleased to present the "Know Your Records" Lecture Series. These weekly presentations are devoted to informing the public and staff about records housed at the National Archives and how one can access and use them for research. During the month of October, there are three presentations on the Records of Congress. Each hour-long lecture will begin at 11 A.M..

Subversive Activities Investigation Committees
October 12 and 14
During the week of October 11, Archivist Edward Schamel will explore how researchers can study the subversive activities investigation committees: the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee (SISS), and the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI). The first lecture will be held Tuesday, October 12 in Room G-24 at Archives I. The lecture will be offered again on Thursday, October 14, in Lecture Room C at the National Archives at College Park.

Private Claims Submitted to Congress

October 19 and 21
During the week of October 18, Archives Specialist Jessie Kratz will highlight private claims submitted to Congress and discuss how researchers can access these records. The first lecture will be held Tuesday, October 19 in Room G-24 at the National Archives Building, Washington DC. This lecture will be repeated at the National Archives at College Park, in Lecture Room D, on Thursday, October 21.

Cartoons and Political Drawings of Clifford K. Berryman
October 26 and 28
During the week of October 25, Archives Specialist Ida Brudnick will examine the cartoons and political drawings of Clifford K. Berryman housed in the Center for Legislative Archives. The first lecture will be held Tuesday, October 26 in Room G-24 at the National Archives Building, Washington DC. This lecture will be repeated at the National Archives at College Park, in Lecture Room E, on Thursday, October 28.
