MISSION: Review, evaluate, and recommend actions to be taken in connection with the handling and disposal of mine waste and the construction of refuse piles, waste dams, tailing embankments, and impoundments in the coal and metal/nonmetal mining industries.
Develop solutions to geotechnical engineering problems such as underground flooding, oil, natural gas, radioactive and industry waste storage, highwall and open pit slope stability, and for mine construction including foundations, structures, shaft sinking, and tunneling.
Conduct on-site field investigations, specialized field and laboratory testing, engineering design and plan reviews, research contract review, and in-depth engineering evaluations requiring expertise in hydrology, soil and rock mechanics, and structural engineering.
