NHTSA HOLIDAY SAFETY MESSAGE

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation would like to remind everyone about the importance of safe driving during the upcoming holiday and summer vacation travel months. This is the peak time for deaths and injuries resulting from crashes on our nation's roads and highways and we ask everyone to take extra care. Remember to always buckle up, never drive when impaired, and ensure that child safety seats are installled and used properly.

NHTSA would like to remind consumers that we have the DOT Auto Safety Hotline as a highway safety resource available to the general public. You can contact the Hotline to report suspected safety defects in your vehicle, vehicle equipment, and child safety seats. You can also obtain information about air bags, highway safety, and the proper use of child safety seats. The Hotline can be reached by dialing 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236) or through the Internet at www.nhtsa.dot.gov/hotline.

Never leave children or animals in your vehicle on hot or even very warm days as they are very susceptible to heat stroke and death under those conditions. Remember to always buckle up and ensure that child safety seats are used properly at all times. The season for highway safety is year round.
