Thelonious Sphere Monk was born on October 10, 1917, in North Carolina. He was a creator of jazz and Be-Bop. He was considered a master composer and a master musician. He died at the age of 64 in April of 1982. He traveled giving concerts all over America, Europe and the Orient. His funeral was held in St. Peter's Church in New York City with an overflow crowd.
