Duties |
This position is located in the Development Office, Office of the Chairman, and reports to the Director of Development.
Conducts research and undertakes information and data collection projects to enhance the development of fund-raising activities and preparation of related materials. Prepares concise reports, analyses, and assessments outlining findings in narrative and graphic form.
Creates and maintains a donor database for tracking donations and correspondence with donors that is accessible in an automated environment to authorized users.
Provides administrative and technical assistance to the Director in his/her efforts to develop and execute a comprehensive private giving fundraising plan and strategy that includes:
- Public-private partnerships
- Corporate and individual giving
- Fundraising for specific projects
- Fundraising for unrestricted donations
- An on-line donation program.
Assists with the Agency’s private giving development efforts, including providing input into the development of appropriate processes to ensure effective management of these efforts.
Works with the staff of the Chairman, Senior Deputy, National Council on the Arts, President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and other appropriate agency officials in order to assist in fundraising activities. As requested, prepares solicitation requests and any follow up correspondence.
As requested, assists the Director of Development by communicating Office plans and activities with other interested or impacted agency offices.
Assists the Director with the preparation and processing of Development administrative actions, including preparation of all appropriate documents related to procurement and travel, subsequent follow-up to ensure proper and timely documentation and processing, maintenance of applicable office records/files, etc. Serves as office liaison with impacted Agency administrative offices. In addition the incumbent may be asked to perform timekeeper duties.
Collects information on current and ongoing Arts Endowment private gift fundraising efforts including in-kind gifts, gift solicitations, unsolicited gifts, and public-private partnerships and incorporates the results of assessment into the annual fundraising plan created by the Director.
Produces complex documents through use of automated tools including the agency’s information technology systems. Documents produced may include: fundraising solicitations, materials for presentation to the National Council on the Arts; special reports on Office activity; letters to interested parties.
Undertakes a variety of special, short-term projects, as requested by Supervisor, related to activities of the Office.
Participates in meetings and teleconferences related to the activities of the Office. Responsibilities include assisting with meeting or teleconferencing arrangements; development of discussion materials and assembly of information for meeting attendees; providing information in response to questions including necessary follow-up activity; and preparing notes characterizing discussions and decisions.
Team participation is vital to effectively/efficiently accomplish unit assignments. The incumbent will also be expected to serve as a team member on ad hoc teams convened to provide quick responses to special projects and studies which may cut across organizations lines, offices and functions. Successful participation in both routine and special assignments requires flexibility, effective interactive skills and willingness to cooperate to enhance team accomplishment.

Qualification Standards |
At least one full year of specialized experience must have been performed in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled. The experience would be gained through office experience where fundraising activities were a primary function and entailed prioritizing assignments, researching and gathering data, preparing reports and analysis, and maintaining records. This experience is required to equip the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. |
