The U.S. Railroad Retirement Board has
named Thomas W. Sadler as its Director of Hearings and Appeals. Mr. Sadler
succeeds Dale G. Zimmerman, who has retired.
An independent Federal agency headquartered in Chicago, the RRB administers the $8 billion-a-year benefit programs provided under the Federal Railroad Retirement and Unemployment Insurance Acts covering the nation’s railroad workforce and their families. In his new position, Mr. Sadler will head the Bureau of Hearings and Appeals, which is responsible for the review of appeals of unfavorable claims determinations made by the agency. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sadler had been serving as the RRB’s Assistant General Counsel. He has also served as Counsel to the RRB’s Inspector General, and as a general attorney. Mr. Sadler joined the RRB in 1976 and has received numerous honors during his career, including the agency’s prestigious Award for Excellence, which recognizes employees for significant and outstanding service to the railroad public. A graduate of Marquette University (B.A. 1969) and the University of Illinois Law School (J.D. 1972), Mr. Sadler also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation and is a Certified Public Accountant. He resides in Chicago’s Buena Park neighborhood. ### |
