SRIP BACKGROUND:
Annually the Marine Corps allocates nearly $1 million to the SELECTED RESERVE INCENTIVE PROGRAM (SRIP). SRIP provides qualified Marines bonuses for enlisting, reenlisting , or extending in the SMCR in an eligible Unit and MOS. The following information explains the criteria and bonus amount for each program. For more specific information see the REFERENCE link below.
ENLISTMENT BONUS:
ELIGIBILITY: Persons enlisting in a qualified Unit and MOS who agrees to serve minimum service term of 6 years.
BONUS AMOUNT: $8,000
Payments:
$4,000 upon enlisting (initial payment)
$600 every year for 5 years
$1000 final payment
REENLISTMENT BONUSES:
6 YEAR SRIP: Available to Marines with not more than 14 years service who agree to serve in an eligible Unit and MOS for a term of 6 years.
BONUS AMOUNT: $5,000
Payments:
$2500 upon reenlisting (initial payment)
$400 every year for 5 years
$500 final payment
3 YEAR SRIP: Available to Marines with not more than 14 years of service who agree to reenlist or extend for a minimum term of 3 years in a qualified Unit and MOS. This bonus is NOT available to Marines having received a 6 Year Reenlistment.
BONUS AMOUNT: $2,500
Payments:
$1200 upon reenlisting (initial payment)
$400 every year for 2 years
$500 on the 3rd anniversary of the initial payment
2ND 3 YEAR SRIP: This bonus is available to Marines who have previously received a 3 Year Reenlistment Bonus. Eligible Marines must not have more than 14 years of service and must agree to reenlist or extend for at least 3 years in a qualified Unit and MOS.
BONUS AMOUNT: $2,000
Payments:
$500 upon reenlistment (initial payment)
$500 every year for 3 years
AFFILIATION BONUS: This bonus is intended for Marines leaving Active Duty but who still have a reserve obligation. To be eligible Marines must have been released form active duty under Honorable conditions, be eligible for reenlistment, and agree to join and serve in a SRIP qualified Reserve unit and MOS.
Payments:
-$50 per month for every month of Reserve service remaining on contract. For a maximum of 24 months ($1200).
-Marines with fewer than 18 months of Reserve service remaining receive a one time payment equal to the number of months times $50.
-Marines with more than 18 months of Reserve service remaining will receive an amount equal to the number of months times $50 (for a maximum of 24 months). On half of the bonus will be awarded at the time of affiliation, the other half upon the one year anniversary of the join date.
