9/16/2004 - HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. (AFPN)  -- Officials here are assessing the damage to the base following Hurricane Ivan. Following an initial assessment, base recovery team people will be dispatched throughout the base to begin recovery efforts and bring the base back up to operational status.

As of Sept. 16, the base is without water or power, but there are no reported injuries.

All people based here are required to stay at their safe haven areas until directed otherwise by the 16th Special Operations Wing commander.

A phone line is available for recovery team people here to call family members regarding their status.

Hurlburt Field-based Airmen, civilian employees and their immediate family members can call the Air Force Personnel Center’s personnel readiness center toll free at (800) 435-9941 for further updates.
