Surplus River Access Site Becomes Community Waterfront Park
Community obtains permanent access to Ohio River

New riverfront access for City of Wilder, KentuckyWilder, KY (March 5, 2004) -The National Park Service's Federal Lands to Parks program transferred Frederick's Landing to the city of Wilder, Kentucky, for their community riverfront park. This 20.16-acre property provides a boat launching ramp, open space, and a scenic overlook on the Licking Creek, a tributary of the Ohio River. Formerly acquired and developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for boating access, the property will be further developed and operated as a riverfront park with walking trails and picnic shelters. Valued at just over $700,000, the property is significant because it provides one of the few boating access sites in the Northern Kentucky (Greater Cincinnati) area.
