2. Where is the certificate my CD refers to, and what should I do with the certificate?
Answer:  Some of the IA training products include the option to print out a certificate after training is completed.  You should print the certificate, sign it, and give it to your local training coordinator.   Please DO NOT fax the certificates back, since there is no central repository for records to be kept.  If the certificate is not on the CD-ROM, the certificate does not exist.

3. What is the user ID and password for, and what user ID and password should I use?
Answer:  Some CD-ROM products include the functionality for a user to continue training where they left off during a prior session.  Please DO NOT use your network user ID and password as this information is stored in clear text files.  Please select a user ID and password that is easy for you to remember.

7. How can I get a copy of tests that some IA Products (DITSCAP, OISS) refer to when the urls no longer exist?
Answer:  The URL the CD-ROM tries to access no longer exists.  The link to a quiz referenced in the DITSCAP CD-ROM product was put in place during product design to allow organizations using the product to implement the DITSCAP quiz for their personnel if desired.  This feature was never activated by a user organization.

Currently, a DITSCAP test is not available.  The OISS test may be requested by your local Security Officer for use by a local Training Coordinator.  Release of the test questions/answers will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Call  (703) 882-1710 or send an email to  DODIAETA@ncr.disa.mil.

9. What should I do when the CD does not seem to work?
Answer:  A defective CD-ROM is extremely rare.  If it doesn't seem to work, try the following:
1. Check the readme file included on the CD-ROM.
2. Attempt to run the CD-ROM from multiple PCs.  If you have a home computer, you might want to try it there too.
3. Try running the CD-ROM on a stand-alone computer to avoid network configuration issues.
4. Contact your local System Administrator or Help Desk if the problem continues.

If you have tried all of these suggestions and you are still experiencing difficulties, please call (703) 882-1710 or send an email to  DODIAETA@ncr.disa.mil.

13. Why am I experiencing problems with pdf files on the DITSCAP CD-ROM? Why doesn't anything happen when I click on the binders in the presentation?
Answer:  The version of Adobe Acrobat on the CD-ROM is 3.01. If you are using a higher version than that, it might not work. You can either install version 3.01, or you can look at the pdf files directly through Windows Explorer.

To load Acrobat Reader 3.01, insert the DITSCAP CD-ROM into your CD drive. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer) and select the CD drive. Click on the ‘DITSCAP’ folder. Click on the ‘SETUP’ folder. Click on the ‘AR32E301’ folder. Finally, click on ‘SETUP.EXE’ and 3.01 installation will begin. NOTE: You may have to uninstall other versions of Acrobat Reader on your machine for this to work.

To just view the pdf files on the DITSCAP CD-ROM without loading an older version of Acrobat Reader, insert the DITSCAP CD-ROM into your CD drive. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer) and select the CD drive. Click on the ‘DITSCAP’ folder. Click on the ‘PDF’ folder. All pdf files in the DITSCAP product are contained in this folder. The binders shown in the DITSCAP CD-ROM link to these files, as do the documents in the Resources section.

If a product is not on the order form, then it may still be under development.  Upcoming product announcements will be posted to the IASE website several weeks before the product is released.

14. Why does the CyberProtect CD-ROM freeze when I try to run it?
Answer:  The CyberProtect CD has received reports of occasional difficulties with Windows NT 4.0, with Service Packs 4, 5, 6 and 6 (alpha) and with Windows 2000, Service Pack 1.

The symptoms reported have been:
1. The CyberProtect CD causes the screen to freeze.
2. After running the CyberProtect CD, it starts, and right after saying, "Brought to you by..., "the  CyberProtect program completely stops, closes its window, and returns to the desktop.

Some possible work-arounds:
1.  Install Quicktime 5 (available from www.quicktime.com) on your machine.  Then, when installing Cyberprotect, decline (uncheck) the option to install Quicktime 3, which comes with the CD.
2.  Loosen Registry restrictions. (It has been noted that the systems with strict Registry control per DISASTIG,
NSW Guide, or U.S. Navy NT Guide block complete Quicktime installation into the Registry.)
3.  Use a Netscape browser. The Netscape browser is available at no cost from the Netscape web site at
www.netscape.com. (Installation of Internet Explorer sometimes introduces conflicts with previous installations
of Quicktime.)
4. Use a standalone Windows 95 or 98 system.

Also, it is worth noting that several ETA IA training products currently available on the IASE were built prior to the approval of the Windows 2000 operating environment for use within DoD.  Because of this, the products were untested on Windows 2000. Many of these products will have future releases that will run in a Windows 2000 environment.  In the meantime, we recommend that users run affected products in a stand-alone Windows 9x or Windows NT environment.

The minimum requirements for running the CyberProtect CD are:
IBM Compatible PC running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT.
32 MB RAM
24x CD-ROM
VGA Monitor
256 color video card (800X600)
16-bit color
16-bit Sound Blaster or equivalent sound card
Microsoft mouse or compatible point device
Quicktime TM 3 (install is included on CD-ROM)
Approximately 260 megabytes free space on your hard disk

15. Why am I experiencing problems with some CD-ROMs when I use them on a Windows 2000 operating system?
Answer:  It has been observed that DISA products using QuickTime Version 2.1.2 (DAA Basics and OISS 1&2) do not function using the Windows 2000 operating system. Initial technical investigation indicates that earlier version Windows dynamic link library (dll) files required by QuickTime Version 2.1.2 to operate have been overwritten or changed by either upgrading to Windows 2000 or installing Microsoft Office 2000.

The DISA products can run using a Windows NT 4.0 system that does not have Office 2000 installed; although, some configuration or permission adjustments may be required by a system administrator. Therefore, it may be necessary to run these products using a stand-alone Windows 95 or 98 system.

Here is a list of the CBT products along with the version of Quicktime used:
Product Name: Quick Time version:
DAA
OISS
DITSCAP
PKI
DoD INFOSEC
CyberProtect

2.1.2

Note: While most of our newer products use "Flash" technology with an Internet browser, many of our earlier products use QuickTime.
