What is an advanced technology vehicle (ATV)? An ATV is a vehicle using advanced technologies such as fuel cells or hybrid drive trains. You can use this site to learn about advanced technologies such as hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, neighborhood electric vehicles, and electric bicycles. You can also learn about how ATVs are being used today by visiting the applications page.

Advanced technology vehicles are not considered to be alternative fuel vehicles as described in the Energy Policy Act of 1992, even though they can potentially run on alternative fuels. To learn more about alternative fuels, go to the Alternative Fuels Data Center.
